When the Race to the Top money first came to Bladen County a team of teachers were selected to be the content leads for the LEA. As a fourth grade teacher I was chosen as the K - 5 Social Studies lead. I attended NCDPI Summer Institute and subsequent Region 4 - Sandhills/SouthCentral training in Social Studies. I then trained one lead teacher from each school on the content I had received. The following summer I attended the Summer Institute as the Technology representative. As a member of the PD Design Team I have trained the team in the use of Google Apps for Education. They, in turn, went to all of the schools in the LEA and trained all of the teachers.

Other PD opportunities for me:
I have attended Lunch and Learn sessions throughout the year sponsored by NCSLMA, NCTIES, NCDPI, and the Friday Institute (FI). I have attended Summer Boot Camp 2012 and Leading Innovation Fall 2012 both at FI. Last summer I attended Cary Academy Summer Technology Institute along with five content area teachers serving this year as my tech leads in those content areas. As a team we held PD sessions in content specific groups after school and on half day work days.
I have completed the class COLT 101: Moodle Training through LearnNC. I presently teach two online EDU 271 classes, Technology in the Classroom, through Fayetteville Technical Community College which uses BlackBoard.

I have worked on the North Carolina Learning Technology Initiative for Bladen County Schools for three years. I have served on my LEA MTAC, Media and Technology Advisory Committee for five years.

Below is the resource developed for the PD Design Team to use when they trained the teachers at all of the schools in the LEA.
PD for Google Apps

The following directions will be used to show competency in using Google Apps for Education.

Teachers will be expected to assist students in completing a form very much like the following. To ensure YOU know how to do it all I will be available to help you.

These skills will be covered prior to the end of the Fall 2012 semester.
